Candles and Wax Burners vs Essential Oils for Asthma

June 30, 2017 by spcadmin

When it comes to creating mood lighting in a room, relaxing in a hot bath or removing stale air from your living space, lighting candles or using wax warmers are two common practices. While some of the scents that candle and wax companies create smell delicious, the substances used to make these products can emit harmful chemicals into the air that you and your family breathe. This can be especially problematic for those who have Asthma.

Why Candles and Wax are Bad for Asthma

Although the flickering flame of a lit candle is a romantic sight, what many people don’t know is that burning petroleum-based paraffin wax candles can release potentially hazardous toxins such as toluene and benzene into the air, which can not only significantly increase the likelihood of developing cancer, allergies, and Asthma, but it can also induce Asthma symptoms in those who already have this respiratory condition.

Wax warmers do not release chemicals into the air through burning, the wax itself consists of multiple chemical ingredients that are inhaled along with the scent and that can cause tightness in the chest, headaches, wheezing, and other symptoms.

Breathing Environment with Young Living Essential Oils

Young Living essential oils can achieve everything that candles and wax warmers do but without the chemical byproducts. This is because:

  • Essential oils are not burned or heated, causing no chemical reactions
  • Essential oils are made of 100% pure oil that is never cut or diluted
  • Young Living oils are designed to promote strength within the body

If you have a child or another family member who is plagued by Asthma symptoms, there are some oils that can help promote a more pure breathing environment, although it’s important to note that essential oils are not a replacement for professional medical attention.

Peppermint

Peppermint essential oil is famous for refreshing any space.

Lavender

Regarded by many as the “Swiss Army Knife” of essential oils, lavender is one of the most commonly used and widely studied oils in the world, and its relaxing properties can help soothe the body.

One of the best ways to start naturally refreshing the air in your home is by ignoring the candles and waxes and instead enhancing your environment with the pure properties of essential oils.
